Lloyd is not
a big fan of Costa Rican striker, Paulo Wanchope.

Costa Rica
recently lost to Japanese league team, Grampus 8! The defeat doesn't
bode that well for the World Cup.
Nottingham Trent
University lecturer Lloyd Pettiford, has studied the country of
Costa Rica, so who better than to give us the lowdown on their football
team!
Lloyd
Pettiford - Costa Rica |
How
is Costa Rica preparing for the World Cup? |
Costa
Rica is capable of great things as it proved in 1990. Many Englishmen,
like myself, will hold a special affection for the team that
beat Scotland. They even beat Sweden too. Preparation has been
up and down. In the first qualifying phase they needed a play-off
to get past Guatemala after the sides finished tied on everything!
But, in the second phase the USA and Mexico were put in their
place. Recently it's been hit and miss again with Wanchope back,
that'll surely continue... |
How
do you think Costa Rica will do in the World Cup? |
Too
close to call as there are no easy games in International football...
well except Scotland. Shame they didn't qualify this year! |
Who's
your best player and why? |
Rolando
Fonseca. More elegant than Wanchope and outscored him in qualifying!
|
What
do you think to the England side? |
Start
with Bridge instead of Ashley Cole and they can't go wrong!
|
Where
will you be watching the matches? |
Anywhere
and everywhere, but alas not Costa Rica. |
