Pembroke College
Member of the winning 2002 and 2003 Oxford Blue Boats. Won world junior champs silver in the coxless four in 1999. Started rowing aged 15 because of family ties to sport. Enjoys rugby and travelling.
Chris Kennelly Chris Kennelly (23)
Oriel College
Rowed for four years at High School in America and continued for a further four years at University. Won the Varsity Eight in 2000 and the Junior Varsity in 2002. Played football for his first two years at High School but after winning state rowing champs and was hooked聰. He is the first rower in the family. Was Tiki Club Social Chair at college 聳 a club formed of the top 1% of performers in business and sport which is dedicated to having a 聯good time聰.
David LivingstonDavid Livingston (20)
Christ Church
One of two pairs of brothers who set a Boat Race precedent in 2003 by competing in opposing crews. David聮s older brother James was in the losing Cambridge crew whilst Matt Smith (Oxford) competed against his younger brother (Ben). All four attended Hampton School. David is a former world junior champs bronze medallist (eight), 2001, and a Coupe de la Jeunesse bronze medallist (eight), 1999. Winner of the senior Fours Head, coxless four (2001). Schools Head winner (eight) in 1999 and (coxed four) 2001. Inspired to take up rowing by the Searle brothers聮 gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. His father, John, rowed at a Cambridge College and his mother, Kate, studied at Cambridge but did not row. Spent his summer in Honduras studying shrimp populations for his dissertation project and caught a species which had not been seen since 1812.
Henry MorrisHenry Morris (21)
Magdalen College
Describes the 2003 Blue Boat victory as the 聯his greatest achievement聰. Was member of the victorious Isis crew in 2002. Finalist (6th) at the 2002 world U23 champs in the coxed four. Henley finalist in 2001 (Princess Elizabeth), Ladies聮 Plate semi-finalist (2002) and Princess Elizabeth semi-finalist (2000). Winner of the 2001 National Schools Champs (eight). Started rowing in 1996 at Radley where he was coached by Donald Legget, one of the current Cambridge coaching team. Captain of boats at Radley. Uncle and grandfather both attended Oxford. Was a Great Britain senior triallist in 2003 in a pair with Matt Smith, the 2003 Oxford President, and rowed at Henley (2003) in the Visitors聮 Cup. Has finals this year.
Peter ReedPeter Reed (22)
Wolfson College
Started rowing at the University of the West of England in Bristol where he soon got into the first eight and became the Club聮s President in 2002/2003. Rowed at Henley in 2002 and 2003. Competed at the 2003 World U23 champs and was fourth in the coxed four. Joined the Royal Navy at 18 after 聯A聰 Levels. Is sponsored by the Royal Navy at University after Dartmouth Naval College and a year of service during which he undertook officer training. A sub-lieutenant who is the first in his family to take up rowing.
Joel Scrogin Joel Scrogin (27)
Brasenose College
Began rowing during his first year of High School. Previous winner of the Head of the Charles 聳 an American race similar in length to The Boat Race 聳 as a Freshman. Has a BA in History from Brown University. Would like to teach or coach when he returns home. Previously an investment banker with Thomas Weisel Partners in Boston. Set up an internet travel company called 聯weekends.com聰 when he left school. Wanted to come to Oxford a year earlier but applied a little late.
Colin SmithColin Smith (20)
St Catherine's College
A 2002 Commonwealth Championships gold medallist in the men聮s coxed four and a winner of the Fawley Challenge Cup at Henley, 2000, and the Wyfold Challenge Cup, 2001. Also national junior champion J16 and J18 men (single), 2000, quadruple scull, J18, 2002. 7th in the men聮s pair at the 2003 World U23 Champs and winner of the U23 men聮s pair title at the Duisburg International Regatta in 2003. A runner-up in the men聮s quadruple scull at Henley in 2002 and 2003.
Andrew Stubbs Andrew Stubbs (23)
Hertford College
A national schools championship winner (quadruple sculls) in 1997. British Universities Championships bronze medallist (eight) 2002. Winner of an Australian Open men聮s bronze medal in the quadruple scull in 2003. Rowed with his twin brother through school and University in Newcastle.
Acer NethercottAcer Nethercott (cox) (26)
University
Coxed the winning Blue Boat in 2003, Isis in 2002 and the Oxford women聮s Blue Boat in 2000. Gained his B.Phil in 2003 and now undertaking a D.Phil. Participated in the Oxford Boat Race squad聮s summer cycling trip in 2003 and was second amongst the rowers, beaten only by Nick Walter. Acer means 聯fierce, keen and eager聰 in Latin.
