The
farmers' market in Deddington is one of the most successful in Oxfordshire,
taking over both the market square and the inside of the parish church
on the fourth Saturday in each month. Deddington was once an important
town. Its first markets were held in the 14th Century but died out in
1830. The annual Pudding Pie Fair, at which livestock was sold and farm
workers and servants were hired, took place in October from 1392 to the
1930s.
