SHARK
FACTS |
|
Bill
Heine, an American who came to Oxford to study at Balliol
College, installed the shark in his Headington home
on 9 August, 1986 - the 41st anniversary of the Nagasaki
atom bomb.
He
said that it was "saying something about CND, nuclear
power, Chernobyl and Nagasaki."
Oxford
City Council tried to make him remove it but the Environment
Secretary, Michael Heseltine, ruled that it should stay.
The
name on the door of the house is: Untitled, 1986.
Bill
Heine is now a 成人论坛 Radio Oxford presenter. Guests often
comment on the shark, unaware that they're speaking
to its owner.
Hear Bill's phone-in programme on weekdays between 12:00
and 14:00, on 95.2FM.
