Weather - The Ultimate Journey Through The Elements
By
John Lynch, Foreword by Donal MacIntyre
Published
by 成人论坛 Worldwide to accompany the landmark 成人论坛 television series.
The
weather is the breathing of the planet and the last truly wild thing
on Earth; we cannot predict it and we cannot control it - so how
does it work? In Wild Weather, published by 成人论坛 Worldwide on 5 September
to accompany the landmark 成人论坛 television series presented by Donal
MacIntyre, John Lynch takes an exhilarating journey into the heart
of the weather to explain.
Beautifully
illustrated throughout using stunning computer graphics from the
television series and over 200 dramatic colour photographs and diagrams,
Wild Weather recreates the unseen wonders of the world, visualizing
the formation of these phenomena and taking a detailed look at the
most exciting and dangerous forces of the weather. Chapters include:
- WEATHER
WORLD - what is the weather, and what drives it?
- WIND
- without wind the Earth would be full of extremes; it brings
relief from heat but causes devastation through tornados and typhoons
- WET
- at the centre of all our weather; causing rain, storms, monsoons
and floods
- COLD
- one of the deadliest enemies for man; behind the delicate beauty
of snowflakes lie the dangers of frost, snow, blizzards, smog
and avalanches
- HOT
- a mighty force that governs our weather, from powering hurricanes
and sandstorms, to thunder and lightning
- CHANGE
- recent years have seen an increase in 'record-breaking' instances
of extreme weather. Are they random blips or irreversible trends
and what will be the consequences of these changes for us?
Capturing
some of the most dramatic moments changing weather can bring, from
hurricanes to sandstorms and monsoons to avalanches, and comprehensively
explaining the scientific facts behind them, Wild Weather is both
a visual encyclopedia and a stunning and informative guide to the
world's weather.
