Top
ten road movies of all time

Top Gear Magazine picks cult movie classic Vanishing Point (1971)
as the ultimate road movie of all time.
It beat off contenders such as Ronin (1998) and Thelma & Louise
(1991) due to its Denver to San Francisco 15-hour non-stop trip
in a full-house Dodge Challenger.
Second
place went to Badlands (1973) which starred Sissy Spacek and Martin
Sheen on the run from the cops aboard a Studebaker and an old Cadillac.
Eight
out of the ten movies were made in the 1970s marking that decade
as a classic time for the road movie. Each film chosen was made
in the US proving that the Brits lack a certain va-va-voom when
it comes to making a decent road movie. The May issue of 成人论坛 Top
Gear Magazine (on-sale 2nd April) discovered that the UK lacks the
landscapes, the free-wheeling cultural mind-sets and above all the
cars to make real road movies.

Top Gear Magazine put Steven Spielburg鈥檚 Duel (1972) in sixth
place as it illustrated the purest example of the genre. Steven
Spielberg also scooped ninth place for Badlands. Eighth place went
to Ronin (1998) for Robert De Niro and Jean Reno鈥檚 adrenalin-pumping
chase sequences.
Both
the 1974 and 2000 versions of Gone in 60 Seconds claimed tenth place.
Its spectacular shot of a flying Mustang and the 40-minute chase
sequence in the 1974 version secured the slot.
