Match of the Day magazine named offical media partner of football festival

Match of the Day magazine, the must-read title for all football-mad youngsters, has been named the official media partner of the Easter & Spring Festival of Football 2009. The festival, which runs from 3 April – 25 May, is an annual series of football tournaments held at holiday camps throughout the country. This year, there will be 11 events with over 14,000 players, all under 14 years old, taking part in the festival.

As official media partner, Match of the Day magazine will help encourage young people to become more active through initiatives such as the Match of the Day magazine Goal of the Tournament Award, a special prize given at each event. In addition, sample copies of the title, mini footballs and subscription offers to the magazine will be available to the teams.

This is the first time the magazine, which launched in March 2008, has partnered with the festival which has been running since 1988. The partnership is being promoted on the festival’s website as well as through Match of the Day magazine branding and content in the festival programmes.

Ian Foster, Editor Match of the Day magazine, says: "We are delighted to be a partner of the Easter and Spring Festival of Football. Match of the Day magazine has a dedicated weekly skills section that actively encourages its young readers to improve their own game, so the festival will be a great way for them to practise their new skills."
