³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Worldwide and Discovery Channel Canada prepare to bring LIFE to North America. Over four years in the making, filmed over 3,000 days across every continent and in every habitat, LIFE is a 10-part series, narrated by David Attenborough. Just weeks after its blockbuster U.K. launch, the North American premiere of LIFE debuts on Discovery Channel Canada with two back-to back episodes, Sunday, November 15, 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT. The breathtaking High Definition version will air on Discovery HD.
Our planet may be home to more than 30 million different animals and plants. And every single one is locked in its own life-long fight for survival. Using state-of-the-art filming techniques, LIFE uncovers some of their extraordinary strategies to breed and stay alive.
The series launched to critical acclaim in the U.K. earlier this month and now Canadian viewers will be the first on "this side" of the Atlantic to experience LIFE. Hilary Read, COO ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Worldwide, Canada said: "LIFE is one of those shows only the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ could make and I’m delighted that Discovery Channel Canada is bringing the North American premiere to their viewers."
"This series is the most stunning portrait of our planet that you are ever likely to see," adds Paul Lewis, President and General Manager, Discovery Channel Canada. "It's a perfect fit for Discovery and I anticipate that LIFE will captivate Canadian viewers with its fine balance of technical brilliance and natural wonder."
Mind-blowing behaviour captured for TV for the first time includes cheetahs working together to bring down prey twice their size; the courtship battle, known as the heat run, of the humpback whale; a huge number of enormous Humboldt squid joining forces for night-time hunting; and the legendary, fearsome Komodo dragons bringing down their buffalo prey.
Dodge Journey has signed on as the sponsor for the Canadian premiere of LIFE on Discovery Channel and Discovery HD. Their sponsorship package of this groundbreaking series includes billboards and brandsell spots on the series’ broadcast on both channels, plus online sponsorship of the fully immersive LIFE microsite at DiscoveryChannel.ca.
The series music is specially created by award-winning composer George Fenton (Planet Earth, Blue Planet). LIFE is a ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳/Discovery/Skai/Open University co-production in association with RTI Spa.
LIFE will be released on DVD and Blu-ray from the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ in early Spring, to coincide with the celebration of Earth Day.
