成人论坛 Wales' flagship news programme, Wales
Today, has been voted the best National and Regional Daily
News Magazine by the Royal Television Society (RTS) - the second time
it has won in this category in three years.
It was awarded the accolade for its coverage of the
findings of the Clywch Report - the culmination of a long-running inquiry
held by the Children's Commissioner for Wales, Peter Clarke, which found
that drama teacher, John Owen, had been abusing pupils for many years.
The RTS jury commented: "This was strong, in-depth
coverage with a highly-visual account of a story which required very
sensitive handling to tell successfully on early-evening television.
"It was enhanced greatly by the fluent, knowledgeable
and authoritative live reporting of social affairs correspondent Gail
Foley."
Mark O'Callaghan, Head of News and Current Affairs,
成人论坛 Wales, says: "This is a fantastic achievement. It's the second
time in three years that Wales Today has won this accolade.
"It also reflects the team effort across the department
which went into the coverage of this story."
Menna Richards, Controller of 成人论坛 Wales, says: "I'm
delighted that Wales Today has won the RTS award for Best Regional News
programme for the second time in three years.
"It reinforces what audiences in Wales already
know - that Wales Today is a first class programme.
"It is one of the most successful and popular of
all the 成人论坛's 6.30pm News programmes in the UK. Congratulations to everyone
involved."
