Jeremy Bowen has been appointed to the newly-created post of 成人论坛 Middle East Editor.
听
He will take up his appointment after he leaves his current assignment in Rome.
听
The new role is designed to enhance our audience's understanding of the Middle East; and to provide extra commentary, focus and analysis to an increasingly complex area of the world.
听
The Editor will serve all of the 成人论坛's news outlets, including radio, television, 成人论坛 News Online, and 成人论坛 World.
听
In order to provide a broader perspective on wider Middle East issues, Jeremy will be based in the World Affairs Unit in London, but will travel extensively throughout the region.
听
Jeremy brings to his new post considerable experience of the region, having spent five years in Jerusalem as the 成人论坛's Middle East Correspondent from 1995 to 2000.
听
Last year he was part of the 成人论坛 team that won the Sony Gold award for News Story of the Year, on Saddam Hussein's capture.
听
He has also made two documentaries on Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Authority.
听
In 1996 he won an RTS award for his coverage of the assassination of the Israeli Prime Minister Rabin.
听
This follows other awards including a Silver Nymph for his coverage of the war in Bosnia and a Gold Medal from the NY TV Festival for Best News Correspondent on his reporting from Bosnia.
听
Jeremy has also written Six Days - a book on the 1967 Arab Israeli Six Day War, which was published in 2003.
听
Most recently he presented 成人论坛 ONE's Jeremy Bowen on the Front Line, which explored the lives and motivations of war journalists.
听
This came from his rich experience as a seasoned war correspondent, reporting from more than 70 countries, and covering conflicts in the Gulf, El Salvador, Lebanon, the West Bank, Afghanistan, Croatia, Bosnia, Chechnya, Somalia and Rwanda, Iraq, Algeria and Kosovo.
听
Jeremy, 45, joined the 成人论坛 as a News Trainee in 1984, before embarking on his career as a foreign correspondent, starting with a posting for Radio News to Geneva in 1987.
听
