Nearly half (47 per cent) of people surveyed in a poll for 成人论坛 ONE's Six O'Clock News think Britain is a worse place to live than 20 years ago - with a 'lack of respect' and 'crime' among the main reasons cited by respondents.
听
Twenty-seven per cent of those asked think that Britain is neither better nor worse than 20 years ago, while 24% think it is now a better place.
听
The exclusive poll conducted by ICM is part of the early evening bulletin's look at the Changing Face of Britain - which includes a series of special reports this week (Monday 4 September to Friday 8 September).
听
The 74% who think it is either worse or no better to live in Britain than two decades ago were then asked to identify three key reasons to explain their views.
听
The main reasons cited were:

47% a lack of respect
46% crime
31% cost of living
28% terrorism
28% immigration

The 24% who responded that Britain is better than it was 20 years ago were asked to choose the biggest challenges facing Britain today. They identified 'terrorism' as the top challenge.
