Ìý

After a year of blockbusters, the network wants the viewers to get voting for their favourites - the leading men and ladies, the memories and the moments.

Ìý

All winners will be chosen by the votes cast between now and 16 February 2007. Winners will be announced during a Film Café Special on Saturday 17 February at 10am.

Ìý

The award categories are:

  • Best Film
  • Best Soundtrack
  • Best Actor
  • Best Actress
  • Best Supporting Actor
  • Best Supporting Actress
  • Best Director
  • Best Villain

Ìý

Vote online at: bbc.co.uk/asiannetwork/film_cafe/awards07.

Ìý

The nominations for Best Film include:

  • Rang De Basanti
The movie straddles two different times - the first is the contemporary setting, which revolves around a group of friends. The second is pre-independence India, revolving around freedom fighters like Chandrashekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh.

  • Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna
Dev and Maya are both unhappily married but to two different people. Over time, they start falling in love with each other and when they are unfaithful they decide to tell their respective partners.

  • Don: The chase begins again...
Don is a notorious gang leader who is killed by the police but, before his gang members come to know of this, a look a like is found and trained to be Don.

  • Omkara
Omkara is an adaptation of the greatest Shakespearean tragedy - Othello.

  • Krrish
A sequel to Koi Mil Gaya, this film sees Krishna's transition from a village boy to the superhero Krrish.

  • Lage Raho Munna Bhai
Munna Bhai's new mission is to find out what Gandhi did for the country and if his principles are still being followed by today's society.

Ìý

One listener writes in to cast their vote: "Omkara, what can I say? It's just a film, a belief, a masterpiece, if only other Bollywood flicks could even match up to 10% of what this movie is.

Ìý

"It's such a great balance of humour, realism, raw and gritty locations and characters. It's amazingly dark with a great build up to the climax."

Ìý

Film Café presenter Raj Dhanda has his own views:"The most important categories have got to be Best Film and Best Director. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna has got to win Best Film as it broke so many boundaries of what's acceptable in Bollywood".

Ìý

Film Café presenter Pablo also has his own views:"That film! No way! I think Rang De Basanti deserves to win Best Film and Best Director should go to Rakesh Roshan, Director of Krrish. I think he really broke big boundaries with his production of the film. He doesn't do things cheap!"
