Shaun Keaveny to present new breakfast show on 成人论坛 6 Music

As 成人论坛 6 Music marks its fifth anniversary, Shaun Keaveny is set to take over the weekday breakfast show on Monday 2 April 2007.

Don Letts, Guy Garvey, George Lamb and The Queens of Noize will also present new shows as part of a new schedule next month.

Shaun Keaveny moves from his current evening slot on 6 Music to present the breakfast show from 7.00 to 10.00am.

Shaun says: "It's difficult to express how excited I am about taking the 6 Music breakfast chair without resorting to colourful Anglo-Saxon language.

"To get the opportunity to wake up the digital-listening nation with the best old and new music in the world and my shoddy gags is the cherry atop a huge, inedible cake."

Lesley Douglas, Controller, Radio 2 and 6 Music, says: "I have long admired Shaun Keaveny - his irreverence, humour and love of music will make him the perfect new breakfast show presenter as we move 6 Music into its sixth year.

"He is one of those rare broadcasting talents who is appointment listening.

"Phill Jupitus is, of course, a hard act to follow. Phill's commitment and passion has been key in building 6 Music's audience and reputation.

"I will miss his laid back humour in the morning - but I look forward to welcoming him back to 6 Music at some point in the future when he has caught up on his sleep!"

Phill Jupitus says: "After five years of getting up at the opposite end of my usual working day, the past half decade of wrongly credited tracks, poorly prepared interviews and borderline profanity has been an unbridled joy.

"One of the most satisfying things about being at 6 Music from the beginning has been watching the steady growth of our enthusiastic and singularly quirky listeners.

"I would expect to be back at 6 Music next time there's a bug going round. In the mean time I will be returning to stand up and will be appearing in a play at the Assembly Rooms at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival."

Before joining 6 Music last year, Shaun Keaveny presented the Friday breakfast show on London's XFM where he helped to secure a 2006 Sony Gold Award for XFM's Rock School, co-presenting with Lauren Laverne.

His foray into TV has included appearing on Flipside TV (Channel 4 and Paramount Comedy) and JAMZ (Nation 217).

He is a regular pundit for ITV1, ITV2, Channel 4 and Five as well as the current narrator for E4's Stop Treating Me Like A Kid, Superheroes for Sky One and Channel 4's Road To V.

And Sean is the new "voice of Sky One".

George Lamb is to present The Dream Ticket (Monday to Thursday, 10.00pm-1.00am) cherry-picking headline performances and exclusive sessions from the 成人论坛 archives alongside the best new releases, as well as enabling listeners to request classic recordings or to share their live gig reviews.

Lamb currently hosts Freshly Squeezed, Channel 4's early daytime entertainment show and also presents the E4 Music Zone. Lamb previously worked in music management representing acts including Lily Allen and the Audio Bullys.

The Queens of Noize (Mairead Nash and Tabitha Denholm) move from Saturday night to Saturday afternoon (4.00-6.00pm) to present a weekly two-hour show featuring an eclectic music mix, exclusive sessions, and interviews with up and coming bands.

The Queens of Noize are an indie DJ outfit who have performed at numerous festivals and clubs internationally including the Carling Weekend, Roskilde Festival and Festival Internacional de Benic脿ssim. They have presented their own show on MTV2.

DJ, musician and film maker Don Letts is to host a new show on Friday night (midnight - 1.00am).

Letts worked as DJ in the Roxy, a London nightclub during the original outbreak of punk in England, and is credited with introducing dub and reggae to the London punk scene, which was to influence The Clash and other bands.

He is also a highly-respected music commentator and film-maker. His film about the Clash, Westway To The World, won a Grammy award in 2003.

And, to round off the week, Guy Garvey, lead singer of acclaimed Manchester based band Elbow, is to present a new show on Sunday evenings (10.00pm-midnight).

Elbow have released three critically-acclaimed albums including the debut Asleep In The Back which gained them a Mercury Music Prize and Brit Award nomination.
