Damian Johnson joins Look North as part of extended sports coverage

Top sports presenter Damian Johnson is joining the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Yorkshire and
Lincolnshire news team.

As part of new plans to extend sports coverage in the region, Damian will
be the Monday sports presenter on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Look North and takes up his new
role today (Monday 13 August).
Ìý
He said: "I am delighted to be returning to Hull – it's where I was born
and grew up. Although the city has changed a lot since my day, I still
have great affection for the place.

"I am looking forward to working with
some of my old colleagues from my time at Look North in Leeds like Peter
Levy and Simon Clark.
Ìý
"With Hull City and Scunthorpe in the Championship,
Grimsby and Lincoln looking for promotion from League Two and both Hull
sides playing in the Super League, it promises to be a busy time."
Ìý
Damian brings a wealth of experience to Look North as a presenter and reporter with shows such as Grandstand, Football Focus and Final Score.
Ìý
He also appears
regularly as host of the Super League show.
Ìý
His broadcast career began in 1986 as a reporter and presenter in
commercial radio in Sheffield where he covered the Hillsborough disaster.
Ìý
In 1989 he joined the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ as a producer working for regional television
in Leeds. He became their sports presenter in 1994, following Leeds
United during several European campaigns as well as Barnsley's promotion
to the Premiership.

In 1998 he joined ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Sport, becoming a reporter for
Match Of The Day and Football Focus.

Look North Sports Editor Simon Clark said: "I am thrilled that Damian
has agreed to join our team.

"I first worked with him 20 years ago and
know that he will be exceptionally popular with the Look North audience.
He is one of the most talented individuals I have every worked with."
