³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales announces changes to Wales Today presentation team


³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales has today announced major changes to the presentation team on its flagship news programme, Wales Today.

Sara Edwards is moving on from presenting Wales Today, on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ One Wales, to concentrate on developing new projects for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales.

Sara, who is one of ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales' most valued faces, will present ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales' Children In Need coverage this year and will work on other programmes.

Mark O'Callaghan, Head of News and Current Affairs at ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales, said: "Sara is a tremendous ambassador for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales, and is the ultimate professional. She has been a superb anchor for Wales Today and I am sure she will continue her excellent work fronting new projects."

Sara said: "Presenting Wales Today has been a huge part of my life but now I have been offered the opportunity to look ahead and develop other plans.

"It has been a pleasure and a privilege to broadcast the news to the people of Wales. The support of the viewers has always meant a great deal to me and I now look forward to continuing our friendship through other programmes."

During her ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales career Sara has not only anchored Wales Today but has also presented a number of documentary series including Counties Of Wales, Rivers Of Wales, Sara Edwards' County Set and Great Houses With Sara Edwards.

Her radio programmes include Sara's People and Food Matters. She will continue presenting programmes from the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show.

³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales also announced today that the ITV Wales news broadcaster Lucy Owen is set to return to the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ to present Wales Today. Lucy will join Jamie Owen later this year.

She will also work alongside her husband Rhodri Owen on the award-winning consumer affairs programme X-Ray.

Lucy said: "I'm very excited about returning to ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales. I started my broadcasting career on Radio Wales so it feels as if I'm coming home.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at ITV Wales but presenting Wales Today has to be one of the biggest jobs in Welsh broadcasting. I just couldn't pass up the challenge of delivering the best in ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales journalism and taking the programme forward.

"I'm also really excited about working alongside Rhodri and the X-Ray team."

Lucy Owen worked for a year and a half on the ITV News channel, before moving onto ITV1 news programmes.

Ìý

She has anchored breaking news stories such as the Iraq Elections, the Beslan School Siege, developments on the Madeline McCann story, the Ipswich murders and the latest from the major conflict zones – Iraq, Afghanistan and Israel.

Ìý

She is currently fronting Stories From The Street for ITV1 Wales, meeting actor Matthew Rhys, Ray Gravell, Jeff Banks and painter Andrew Vicari.

Ìý

She presented and co-produced The Prince In Wales and Charles And My Trust in Wales. For both programmes she was given exclusive access and interviews with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, both during his tour of Wales and at Highgrove.
