Roy Noble parts with trademark beard after almost 34 years
Popular ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio Wales presenter Roy Noble has reinvented himself with a clean shaven face –
the first time he has been seen without a beard for almost 34 years.
Ìý
Roy, who presents the weekday afternoon show on Radio Wales, said he had been pondering the idea of a clean shave for some time and had previously discussed it with his wife Elaine.
Ìý
"The beard was six months older than my son Richard, and he's 33," said Roy. "Had I waited until March, the beard would have been 34.
Ìý
"I'd thought about it on and off for the last couple of years, but suddenly this morning I just did it," he said.
Ìý
"I went to the bathroom and decided there and then, and I shaved it off in one go, not in stages. I had to use my wife's leg razor to do it, because I don't own a razor myself, only a beard trimmer."
Ìý
When Roy arrived for work at ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales' Broadcasting House headquarters, his colleagues were surprised to see the familiar Noble face devoid of hair.
Ìý
"The reaction has been favourable," said Roy.
Ìý
"But it does feel a bit strange. I've been used to rubbing my beard all those years, and now it's so smooth it's ridiculous."
