Michael Ball presents new Radio 2 Sunday show



West End star Michael Ball is to present a new ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 2 show on Sunday mornings.

The first show will be on Sunday 6 April 2008 and will go out between 11.00am and 1.00pm.

Ìý

Michael says: "This is a wonderfully exciting new challenge in my career. I hope listeners will make a regular date to have lunch with me on Sundays."

Lesley Douglas, Controller, Radio 2, says: "Michael has proved to be an accomplished presenter on Radio 2 already. His warmth, obvious love of music and sense of humour make him perfect Sunday morning company."

Michael has won critical acclaim and has earned himself a loyal following with his numerous performances on stage, film and TV.

Ìý

He is currently wowing West End audiences playing the supersized Edna Turnblad in the multi award-winning production of Hairspray. He is also a successful recording artist.

Ìý

Michael's numerous Radio 2 credits include his long-running and successful Radio 2 series, Ball Over Broadway, which took Michael to New York to review shows and interview directors, stars and producers.

Ìý

Michael has also presented one-off specials for the network including tributes to Jerry Herman and Anthony Newley. He has also been a guest presenter on Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings.

Michael has numerous West End credits including Marius in Cameron Mackintosh and the RSC's production of Les Miserables; Raoul in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom Of The Opera; Alex in Lloyd Webber's Aspects Of Love (and on Broadway); Giorgio in Stephen Sondheim's musical Passion; and his award-winning Count Fosco in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Woman In White (and on Broadway).

In 2007 he toured the UK before making his debut with the English National Opera in the lead role of Hajj/Poet in a new production of Robert Wright and George Forrest's Kismet.

Ìý

In August he made his ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Proms debut with An Evening With Michael Ball at London's Royal Albert Hall – it marked the first time a musical theatre star had been given a solo concert at the classical music festival.
