BAFTA Cymru success for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales


³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales has enjoyed another year of success at the BAFTA Cymru awards – winning more awards than any other Welsh broadcaster.

³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales went home with 16 BAFTA Cymru awards from last night's ceremony at Wales Millennium Centre with hit drama Doctor Who scooping a total of six awards.

Ìý

The series won accolades for Best Drama Series, Best Director of Photography: Drama, Best Sound, Best Make-Up, Best Director: Drama, with Steven Moffat being awarded the BAFTA for Best Screenwriter.

More success for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales's Drama department came with Torchwood winning in the Best Costume category, and Young Dracula being named the Best Children's Programme.

The accolade for Best Current Affairs went to Week In Week Out for its special on transplant tourism; Best Factual went to Coast; Best Camera: Not Drama was awarded to Tribe; Best Lighting Director: Not Camera went to ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Cardiff Singer Of The World 2007; Best On-Screen Presenter was given to Bruce Parry for Tribe.

And the Best Live Coverage/OBTeam and Best Documentary accolades were awarded to the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales-produced S4C programmes Angladd Ray Gravell and Grav Ray o'r Mynydd respectively.

Ìý

The Gwyn Alf Williams Award – in recognition of productions which have contributed most to the understanding and appreciation of the history of Wales – was given to the Indus Films-produced programme Coal House.

Menna Richards, Controller, ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Wales, said: "Congratulations to all our winners. It's wonderful to see the talent, creativity and hard work of so many people being recognised in this way.
