³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ announces recommission of Bizarre ER for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Three
|
Bizarre ER returns to ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Three later this year for a second series of 10, 30-minute episodes.
Ìý
The series sees its cameras return to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to capture a fresh batch of bizarre casualties as they limp through the doors of its Accident and Emergency Department.
Ìý
Each week Bizarre ER will follow four or five of Norwich's most interesting and unusual A&E cases ob-doc style, from admission through to discharge, keeping the bemused and blushing patients company as they undergo examinations, X-rays and surgery.
Ìý
The same charismatic team of doctors and nurses will talk through every trauma, as they think on their feet about the best way to treat the often unprecedented injuries and share their professional opinions on the nature of every casualty.
Ìý
Each show will also incorporate a single remarkable retrospective A&E story, which has recently made headlines around the world.
Ìý
The series has been commissioned for the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ by Mark Bell, Commissioning Editor, Specialist Factual.
Ìý
He said: "Bizarre ER is a compelling show, due to the eye-opening, at times eye-watering, accidents that propel patients through the doors of an East Anglia hospital, and due to the patience and professionalism of the hospital staff that get them up and about again.
Ìý
"I know we will be hearing more stories that will be informative, salutary and never less than weird."
Ìý
It has been made by Maverick Television and Mark Downie is Executive Producer.
Ìý
He says: "Each amazing story of survival will stand testament to the extraordinary abilities of the doctors and nurses who saved the day by successfully treating even the most appalling and bizarre injuries.
Ìý
"Whatever the nature or cause of the injury – swallowing, impalement, falls, poisonings, or unfortunate insertions – we'll recreate them in our trademark, surreal style."
