Danielle Nagler to head up ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ HD

Following the successful launch of the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳'s High Definition channel, Head of ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ HD Seetha Kumar is moving to another senior role within the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳. Danielle Nagler joins the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Vision team to take over running the service.
Ìý
Seetha leaves ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ HD in a strong position, with ratings growing every month and high approval, a record number of hours of high-profile programming this summer, and a guaranteed slot on HD Digital Terrestrial Television (Freeview) which is expected to be launched from Autumn 2009.
Ìý
Her new role will be announced shortly.
Ìý
Danielle will focus on growing the channel by driving consumer take-up, working with in-house and independent producers to increase HD programming, and leading preparations for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ÌýHD's launch on Freeview.
Ìý
She takes up the position on 21 July 2008, reporting to Controller of Multiplatform and Portfolio Simon Nelson.
Ìý
Danielle has had a wide-ranging career at the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ since joining as a journalism trainee in 1996.
Ìý
She led the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Project Team working on Charter Renewal with ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Two Controller Roly Keating and more recently worked as Head of the Director-General's Office, supporting Mark Thompson in his role across the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳.
Ìý
Director of ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Vision Jana Bennett says: "Seetha's energy and commitment have been vital in taking ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ HD through its trial period, launch and then setting it on course for a successful future.
Ìý
"I look forward to working with her in the future."
Ìý
Simon Nelson says: "HD is a central part of our broadcasting future with huge potential to grow on cable, satellite and in the future on Freeview.
Ìý
"I'm confident that in Danielle's hands the channel will make the transition to become a mainstream choice for our audiences."
Ìý
Danielle Nagler says: "At the moment there are 10 million HD-ready sets in the UK but only a minority are actually used for HD viewing.
Ìý
"It's clear there's lots of work to do to open up the enormous viewing potential HD can offer for audiences.
Ìý
"³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ HD tries to offer viewers the best of the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳'s HD programmes, so I've got the fantastic job of cherry-picking from all the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ channels to create the best possible showcase for HD content.
Ìý
"It's a critical time for the channel and the technology, and for people making programmes. But I hope that the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ can help both audiences and the wider industry make the transition to HD."
