³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Switch announces activity for Autumn 2008
The ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳'s multi-platform teen brand ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Switch revealed today
details of a raft of new content
aimed at 12-17 year olds, across ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Two, ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 1 and online
at bbc.co.uk/switch.
Ìý
³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Switch returns to TV screens after the summer holidays
and continues to champion British talent and fresh,
distinctive content, and will host its first ever live event
in October – ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Switch Live.
Ìý
³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Switch on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Two, Saturdays, noon to 2pm
Ìý
Sound: Saturday 6 September
Ìý
Radio 1's Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw return to ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Switch
with a totally new Sound – a music TV show that is not afraid
to have fun as well as celebrate music.
Ìý
Filmed in a London loft, the new Sound sees Annie and Grimmy
joined by an audience of 50 selected fans and friends.
Ìý
Ìý
From
established names through to rising stars, each week a band
will join in the fun and perform.
Ìý
There will be mischief,
guests from the worlds of fashion, sport, comedy, film and
TV, audience interaction and bands performing in unexpected
places.
Ìý
Scene Stealers: Saturday 6 September
Ìý
Scene Stealers is a six-part series presented by Jeff Leach,
the host of ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Switch's teen talk show The Surgery.
Ìý
Every week, two teens are challenged to pretend they belong
to another teen tribe in just 48 hours.
Ìý
A plastic becomes a
hip hop MC, a goth becomes a plastic, an indie boy becomes a
chav, a posh girl becomes a hippie and an emo becomes a posh
kid.
Ìý
Each teen will be paired with a mentor who shows them
how to pass themselves off in their new persona. Both will
have to perform a series of tasks to complete the
transformation.
Ìý
And there is a surprise in store – the teens will be going on
a date with each other, and their date is
the rival scene stealer!
Ìý
The pair are finally grilled by a
panel of experts who will select the one they think is
genuine and expose the scene stealer.
Ìý
Mission Beach USA: mid-October
Ìý
Mission Beach is an eight-part observational documentary.
Eight British teenagers will have the experience of a
lifetime by taking part in California's Junior
Lifeguard Program.
Ìý
Coming from a range of different backgrounds, for most of the
teens it will be their first experience of living away from
home.
Ìý
Over the course of a month, the lifeguard programme will
test their physical and mental endurance and develop their
life skills.
Ìý
As well as beach safety, lifesaving and swimming
skills, they will be taught bodysurfing, body boarding and
board surfing.
Ìý
The teens will be pitted against each other
and their American counterparts and face a gruelling course
to graduate as cadets – and the consequences should they step
out of line.
Ìý
In a very different world to the one they are
from, will our eight hopefuls sink or swim?
Ìý
The eight are: Yasmine (16) from Swansea; Emma (17) from
Halifax;
Georgina (17) from Portsmouth; Joe (16) from Stockport;
Sean (16) from Swansea; Aine (17) from Co Derry;
Jack (16) from Devon; Tommy (16) from Cornwall.
Ìý
Revealed.: Saturday 6 September
Ìý
The teen current affairs show Revealed. returns with young
journalists Charlotte Ashton and Anthony Baxter who will take
viewers on a journey to make sense of a variety of subjects
facing teens in the UK.
Ìý
Ìý
In this series, the duo will tackle
male anorexia, the surveillance society, teen alienation,
crime, sex, and what's really going on in Bridgend.
Ìý
Greek: Saturday 6 September
Ìý
³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Switch will air the hit US teen comedy drama Greek on
³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Two. After a run on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Three, teen viewers will get a
second chance to view the students at Cyprus-Rhodes
University.
Ìý
Casey Cartwright is popular, beautiful, smart,
and, with Evan, she has the perfect boyfriend. Her ambition to
become president of university house Zeta Beta Zeta is
threatened by the arrival of the scheming Rebecca Taylor,
daughter of a high-profile politician.
Ìý
Casey's very different
younger brother Rusty arrives on campus, determined to shake
off his geeky image and enjoy his student years.
Ìý
Ìý
As Rusty and
Casey negotiate university life with ex-boyfriends, love
rivals, disapproving room mates, and studies, they begin to
realise that the only thing they may be able to rely on is
each other.
Ìý

directed by Henry Mason.

friends, Nat, Naomi, Ernie and Bee, falling for each other and
falling out. Viewers can interact by filming scenes and
uploading them to the webpage –
. Act one will launch online

can't ask for more than that on a Sunday night.
Ìý
"That, coupled
with the all new Sound, makes for a fun year."
Ìý
Nick Grimshaw said: "Yes, return of the Mac. I can't wait for
