US Presidential election coverage from the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳


As Americans cast their votes for a new President, ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ journalists on television, radio and online will be working together to deliver the results with comment and analysis from the US and across the world.

David Dimbleby presents US Election Night live from Washington.

Ìý

The programme will be simulcast on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ One, ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ World and the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ News channel on 4 November from 11.15pm to 6.00am (GMT).

Ìý

Jeremy Vine will be analysing the figures as they come in and using the latest graphics to show who is winning the race to the White House.

Ìý

The ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳'s Matt Frei will be in the studio giving his insights into the political implications.

Ìý

The ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳'s team of reporters also includes Katty Kay and Philippa Thomas who will bring the latest from key battleground states.

Ìý

Laura Kuenssberg will be in Times Square in New York with a team of bloggers reporting on news emerging from the blogosphere and John Simpson will be reporting reaction from the black community.

Ìý

Both Question Time and The Politics Show will be broadcasting US Election specials live from Washington.

Ìý

Question Time, on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ One on Thursday 30 October, will feature a panel of British and American guests.

Ìý

And The Politics Show on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ One on Sunday 2 November will explore how voters are deciding between the two candidates and what the outcome could mean for Britain.

Andrew Neil will be in New York and Laura Kuenssberg in Washington for Daily Politics on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Two on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 November.

Ìý

Andrew will be joined in New York by Michael Portillo and Diane Abbott to present This Week on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ One on Thursday 6 November.

The ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ News website – bbc.co.uk/news – will carry a full results service, including a map displaying each result as it happens.

A running text commentary will log developments during the vote and the count and ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ correspondents will analyse the outcome.

Ìý

³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ North America editor Justin Webb will be blogging throughout, and the website will reflect information and comment circulating among US bloggers.

Ìý

The ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ US Election Night programme will be streamed live on the website and video highlights will be available on demand, as well as a selection of the best shots taken by photographers.

Visitors to the site will also be able to find out more details on the US political system, and they can share their opinions with other readers.

Ìý

³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 5 Live will present a US Election special running from 11.00pm to 5.30am (GMT), with coverage continuing in the Breakfast programme.

Radio 5 Live's political correspondent John Pienaar will be in Washington, Richard Bacon will be in Chicago, Lesley Ashmall in Phoenix and Rhod Sharp will be in Miami.

There will be a panel of guests in each location and coverage will include the results, analysis and gossip from behind the scenes.

Jim Naughtie and Shaun Ley will anchor ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 4's Election Night special from the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳'s HQ in Washington.

Before joining the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳, Jim was on the national staff of the Washington Post and has worked on every presidential election for the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ since 1988.

Ìý

Joining Jim and Shaun will be Radio 4's Martha Kearney and Paddy O'Connell.

Ìý

As the night's drama unfolds, Radio 4 will provide insight and reaction from many of the key figures in the US and around the world.

On hand to make sense of the numbers and trends will be veteran American political pollster Thomas Riehle.
