FIFA Confederations Cup 2009: live and exclusive on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Three

Live and exclusive international football comes to ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Three in June as the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ today announced details of their coverage of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009, featuring the national teams of Brazil, Italy, Spain, USA, Egypt, South Africa, Iraq and New Zealand.

Presenter Gabby Logan heads up the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ TV team and will present live coverage of the evening games at 7.00pm (kick-off 7.30pm) from London, with the afternoon matches broadcast live on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Red Button from 2.50pm (kick-off 3pm).

Both semi-finals and the final will also be shown live on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Three, while the third place play-off will be live on Red Button.

In addition to the TV coverage all games will be broadcast live on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Online (see below for full TV schedule).

Joining Gabby in the studio will be former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon. Other studio guests are to be announced.

Match commentators are Jonathan Pearce, Guy Mowbray and Steve Wilson with co-commentary from Mark Bright and Martin Keown.

The eighth FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 will take place in South Africa from 14 to 28 June with games being played in four cities across the country – Johannesburg, where the final will be played, Tshwane/Pretoria, Mangaung/Bloemfontein and Rustenburg.

The tournament is made up of the winners of the six football confederation championships (AFC, CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, OFC, UEFA). In addition the FIFA World Cup winner and the host country qualify automatically, bringing the number of teams to eight.

The 2010 World Cup hosts South Africa, in Group A, get proceedings started on 14 June against the 2007 AFC Asian Cup winners, Iraq. The 2008 OFC Nations Cup winners, New Zealand, and UEFA Euro 2008 winners, Spain, make up the other two teams in the group.

The following day, current FIFA Confederations Cup champions and Copa America 2007 winners, Brazil, in Group B, begin their defence of the title against 2008 African Cup of Nations winners, Egypt. The 2006 FIFA World Cup winners Italy and 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup winners, USA, complete the group.
