³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio Cambridgeshire is celebrating the newly termed 'staycation' holiday on Friday 31 July from 12noon by inviting people to a picnic at Ferry Meadows, situated in a large meander of the river Nene, in Peterborough.
'Staycation' is a term coined to describe people spending their holidays at home due to the current economic climate. Due to this, and with the kids currently on school holidays, Radio Cambridgeshire has decided to get out and about and put some cheer back into the summer months.
Radio Cambridgeshire presenter Jane Smith is presenting the Friday Feeling show at Ferry Meadows, celebrating the park's 21st anniversary and the great British picnic.
People are invited to bring a picnic, a blanket and a portable radio to hear Jane broadcasting live from the heart of the park.
Picnic lovers have the chance to see her in action and to hear, on air, the people that maintain Ferry Meadows as one of the county's favourite places to visit.
Jason Horton, Managing Editor, Radio Cambridgeshire, says: "We are passionate about the area we serve and we don't mind saying so!
"Broadcasting Jane's programme from Ferry Meadows makes perfect sense to us. It's one of those local jewels that many people just wouldn't think about going to and hopefully our 'staycation' will encourage people to remember what a fantastic time they can have on their doorstep."
For a fun, free family day out come along to Ferry Meadows on Friday 31 July 2009 from 12noon and be part of Radio Cambridgeshire's summer 'staycation' picnic.
³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio Cambridgeshire broadcasts on 95.7 & 96 FM, DAB digital radio and online via ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ iPlayer.
