CBeebies' Bedtime Hour will be refreshed from Monday 7 September as the gentle hit show Waybuloo joins the nightly wind-down line-up, complementing the award-winning In The Night Garden and the daily Bedtime Story.
The new schedule will be:
6.00pm: Waybuloo
6.20pm: In The Night Garden
6.50pm: Bedtime Story
Launched in May 2009, Waybuloo has delighted the CBeebies audience, reaching nearly five million viewers since its debut, and has been brought in to refresh the bedtime hour as a result.
An ideal companion to In The Night Garden and the Bedtime Story, its unique exploration of emotions and relationships is brought vividly to life through a combination of live action and cutting-edge CGI – taking young viewers on a journey to Nara, land of the Piplings.
Together, they explore and experience natural and spontaneous routes to happiness through warmth, friendship, co-operation and citizenship.
Launched in March 2007, the double-Bafta award-winning In The Night Garden has become a worldwide phenomenon, with youngsters in more than 33 countries enjoying the adventures of Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka and their friends. Already a regular daily feature, In The Night Garden will remain at the heart of the Bedtime Hour.
Broadcast daily since CBeebies launched in 2002, the Bedtime Story has been hosted by an illustrious cast list of famous faces and personalities, from Adrian Lester and Dervla Kirwan to Sir Terry Wogan and Rob Brydon.
This nightly treat will continue to draw the Bedtime Hour to a close with its blend of exciting adventures, traditional tales, classic stories and contemporary fiction for the under-sixes.
CBeebies' Controller, Michael Carrington, said: "Waybuloo's gentle spirit and positive emotional philosophy makes it the perfect partner to In The Night Garden’s storybook feel as our young viewers wind down at the end of the day. Followed by the perennial favourite Bedtime Story, we hope that the new refreshed Bedtime schedule will help our viewers get in the mood for bed!"
Notes to Editors
CBeebies remains the most watched and loved channel for the under-sixes. With almost half of the target audience tuning in each week (parents and carers with children aged 0-3 and 4-6 year olds in digital homes) it reaches well over double (almost three times) the audience of its pre-school competitors.
CBeebies website regularly reaches almost a million weekly users and reached more than one million unique users in the UK during the first week of February 2009, a record for the site.
