6 Music celebrates Harvest Festival: Alex James to co-host Breakfast Show

Blur bassist Alex James is set to co-host the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ 6 Music Breakfast Show with Shaun Keaveny, live from Alex's farm on Friday 18 September from 7.00 to 10.00am.

6 Music is celebrating the British tradition of Harvest Festival in its own inimitable way as Shaun Keaveny gets his wellies on for an eclectic countryside combination of live music, cheese-tasting, animal husbandry and a tour of the many-acre farm.

Alex and the breakfast team will put to the test the age old question of which music produces better eggs: classical music... or Blur. On the Thursday night they'll be playing one chicken a Blur album, and one chicken a Bach concerto, and on Friday morning all will be revealed live on air as the respective eggs are served up for breakfast to see which tastes better.

Broadcasting live from the kitchen, there is music courtesy of folk singer Laura Marling and acoustic troubadour Johnny Flynn.

Records on the show will come from 6 Music listener suggestions for tracks that remind them of the great outdoors plus a selection from Alex's collection.

6 Music listeners will also be treated to an introduction to cheese from Alex, as Music News' Matt Everitt tastes the latest varieties and Shaun performs the smell test (he's more a cheese triangles man). Plus, Matt will pit his wits against Alex in a music quiz and Shaun will be enlisting listener help to find out which is the best village in the UK.

The show will be available to listen again seven days after broadcast via bbc.co.uk/6music.

This year has been a busy summer of live broadcasting for 6 Music. Highlights have included dawn-till-dusk live coverage as the home of Glastonbury for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ radio, a weekend of action from Camden Crawl, a feast of music from the Latitude Festival and extensive live coverage of the Mercury Music Prize hosted by Steve Lamacq.
