The funeral has taken place this morning, 12 November 2009, in Warwickshire, of the actor Norman Painting OBE who played Phil Archer in The Archers for nearly 60 years and who died on Thursday 29 October.
The service was short, simple and private at the actor's request and was attended by close friends, family and representatives for Age Concern and The Tree Council, two charities to which Norman was heavily committed.
The ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ and The Archers was represented by Vanessa Whitburn, the programme's Editor.
The service was led by Canon Dr Christopher Lamb, the former vicar of the village of Warmington, where Norman lived for many years.
A memorial service for Norman Painting will be held next year.
