³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Essex is really getting into the Christmas mood this weekend when presenters Sadie Nine and Steve Scruton host a Festive Fun Day outside Victoria Plaza on Southend High Street on Saturday (12 December) between 11.00am and 5.00pm.
Sadie and Steve will present a variety of entertainment and activities for the whole family to enjoy, including a special "performance" from ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Essex's very own man-band tribute act Fake That, who took part in the station's "Shame Academy" event for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Children in Need. It promises to be a performance like no other...
Other acts on the day include Sharon Rose, an R&B singer, who has appeared on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Introducing and ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ 1Xtra, Josh Dubovie, a local singer who performs swing and pop music, and performances from the Southend Girls Choir and Southend Boys Big Band. Midday presenter and stage performer, Sadie Nine, will also be exercising her vocal talents during the day.
Sadie says: "I love presenting at ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Essex outside broadcasts because I get such a kick putting faces to the amazing callers I have on my radio show. I have so far been thrilled and amazed how many people turn up to our events and hope this continues on Saturday when I'll be singing for the first time at a ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Essex event!"
Sadie continues: "The main reason I hope lots of people turn up this weekend is to experience the ice rink that Southend Hospital have arranged which is raising money for the Breast Cancer Appeal. Having been diagnosed with breast cancer myself four-and-half years ago, it gives me great pleasure to help raise money for something that ultimately saved my life."
Steve says: "It's fantastic to be able to get out of the studios and meet the people we talk to on-air on a daily basis. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone there and getting to know people face to face."
There are also various farmers' markets and street markets providing local produce during the day. Other ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Essex presenters on stage during the day include Ian Wyatt, Tim Gillett, Phil Meacham and Mike Bromfield.
³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Essex broadcasts on 95.3 & 103.5 FM, DAB digital radio and online via the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ iPlayer.
