After performing a Broadway and a Cha Cha Cha routine in the second live show, viewer votes left couples Chloe & Gavin and Mandy & Alastair having to dance for their lives in solos in front of the judges on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ One's So You Think You Can Dance.
The four gave their all in the final 30 seconds to save their space in the competition.
Judges chose to eliminate Chloe and Gavin, saving Mandy and Alastair.
Of the girls' final dance, Nigel Lythgoe said: "We feel as though nerves kicked in for everybody tonight and we don't think the routines were as strong as they even were in the dress rehearsal.
"It won't surprise you girls to know we were not unanimous in our decision. It's three-to-one and the one person who didn't agree with the three is Arlene."
"Chloe, you are without question Miss Personality, and, if your dancing was as strong as your personality, you would very possibly win this competition.
"Mandy, you have the personality, you have very strong technique and, we believe, an incredible work ethic. Mandy, we'll see you next week."
Of the boys' final dance, Nigel said: "Alastair, last week you did a pretty good Broadway routine. This week you had the Cha Cha Cha and we felt as though your partner was the strength of the partnership and you weren't as good as you could have been."
"Gavin, you didn't have a good night – it just didn't go well. We all have nights like this. You have worked your socks off and we're very proud of you. Last week you danced in your own genre, and did very well. Remember you've only been dancing for four years and that is not long to have gained the amount of knowledge that you have, but you just don't have enough strength in your arsenal or a wide enough vocabulary of dance. You will be leaving us tonight."
After her elimination, Chloe said: "I have had so much fun, learnt so much. No regrets at all – everyone is amazing."
After his elimination, Gavin said: "I have loved it, absolutely loved it. A big thanks to the judges, you've made this experience so amazing. I have made so many amazing friends. These guys are phenomenal dancers."
The results show had performances from Alexandra Burke and a group dance, featuring all 12 finalists, to Christina Aguilera's hit Ain't No Other Man, choreographed by Frank Gatson.
Next week the remaining five couples will be performing to remain in the competition and there will be a guest performance from JLS.
