The General Election 2010 on Radio 5 Live

³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 5 Live will capture all the key moments and reflect the mood of the country throughout the General Election period, allowing listeners to air their views on the issues and follow the campaign nationwide.

After the polls close the network will clarify the implications of a long night of results on 7 May .

Nicky Campbell, on 5 Live Breakfast (6.00-10.00am), will interview the party leaders during the General Election and listeners can give their view in the phone-in (weekdays at 9.00am). Listeners can interact with the discussion and watch the debates on a live stream via bbc.co.uk/5live.

Victoria Derbyshire (weekdays 10.00am-12noon) will also host four live debates around the UK, from Bromsgrove, Luton, Middlesborough and Leeds, focusing on the key policy issues and allowing listeners to challenge politicians directly.

As the campaign unfolds, Radio 5 Live will bring all the news and views from the respective parties with all the news and views from the three keynote Prime Ministerial debates on 15, 22, and 29 April, with expert analysis from 5 Live's Chief Political correspondent, John Piennaar.

Tony Livesey's show will allow listeners to react to the all the issues in the Prime Ministerial debates as soon as the debates close at 10.00pm.

5 Live Drive presenter Peter Allen will spend a day in the camps of all the main parties interviewing the leaders as they go on the stump across the country. Radio 5 Live's Drive programme (weekdays 4.00-7.00pm) will report from England Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland as the election is called.

Chris Addison's 7 Day Sunday (Sundays 11.00am-12noon) will give his unique take on the campaign as it progresses abetted by comedian Andy Zaltzman and key guests.

Radio 5 Live's website bbc.co.uk/5live will feature the 5 Live Election Story an interactive application compiling the best of 5 Live's audio highlights and unique journalism throughout the duration of the campaign, pulling in conversations with the audience via Twitter, Facebook, Blogs and text messages about the election issues that affect them.

Radio 5 Live Controller, Adrian Van Klaveren, said: "This could be one of the most exciting elections in decades, and I think Radio 5 Live's coverage provides a real platform for debate, interactivity and clarity from all over the country."

After the election, Victoria Derbyshire's programme will issue every new MP with a new MP's guidebook giving a code of practice laying out 15 things that every MP should abide by, written with 5 Live listeners. It will be published on 7 May.

Monday 3 May : Election Fighting Talk – MPs from all the main parties compete in a knockabout political version of the popular Saturday punditry show.

From 10.00pm, 6 May, till 6.00am on 7 May: Election Night

As the polls close, Victoria Derbyshire and John Pienaar present 5 Live's election coverage through the night. Including live link ups with all the main parties across the UK as the results begin to be declared.

7 May, 6.00-10.00am: Election Breakfast: Nicky Campbell and Shelagh Fogarty with the latest stories following the General Election, plus your calls and reaction to the results so far.

7 May, 10.00am-7.00pm: Election Special, Victoria Derbyshire and Peter Allen continue Radio 5 live's coverage of the election story through the day, including analysis of the results as they come in from John Pienaar
