Sony Station of the Year ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 5 Live and sister station ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 5 Live Sports Extra are gearing up to the start of the 2010/11 football season with unrivalled live football coverage and commentary, including 128 live Premier League matches.
There's also quality coverage and commentary from the Championship, Football League, Champions League, Uefa Europa League, FA Cup, League Cup, Scottish Premier League, Scottish Cup, European Championship qualifiers and international friendlies, plus lively and insightful reaction and analysis from 5 Live's expert team of presenters, pundits and commentators.
New for this season, the long-running and much-loved Sports Report is restored to a full hour on Saturday evenings from 5pm, with the nation's most popular football phone-in, 606, returning to its original timeslot, 6.06pm, with new regular hosts Mark Chapman and Robbie Savage.
Mark Pougatch presents 5 Live Sport on Saturday afternoons and Tuesday and Wednesday nights, delivering high quality coverage of the week's big domestic, European and international matches. Radio 5 Live's Premier League coverage kicks off on Saturday 14 August at 12pm with live commentary from the opening game of the season, Tottenham Hotspur versus Manchester City (kick off 12.45pm), followed by Wigan versus Blackpool (kick off 3pm) and updates from all the day's other 3pm matches.
Now in its 62nd year, the iconic Sports Report, presented by Mark Pougatch, will return to its regular full hour slot on Saturdays at 5pm, from 14 August, with the classified results read by the legendary James Alexander Gordon.
Following Sports Report, the nation's best-loved football phone-in, 606, returns to its original 6.06pm slot. Mark Chapman will be joined by co-presenter Robbie Savage, providing unique insights direct from the pitch as he joins the studio team straight from his Derby County matches. 606 also returns on Sunday evenings for more post match discussion with Alan Green.
Radio 5 Live Sport, on Sunday, is hosted by Colin Murray with extensive live coverage of all the afternoon's action – including live Premier League commentary of the 3pm and 4pm matches, starting with Liverpool versus Arsenal at 4pm on Sunday 15 August.
Colin will also host the lively Friday night 5 Live Sport – Kicking Off With Colin Murray, with regular guests Pat Nevin and Perry Groves, as well as the ever popular Fighting Talk, which returns for the new season on Saturday 14 August (11am-12pm).
Mark Chapman presents 5 Live Sport on Monday evenings, including The Monday Night Club with special guests including John Motson and Steve Claridge, discussing the latest big football talking points, and 5 Live Football League with Mark Clemmit with all the latest from the Championship and Leagues One and Two.
On Monday 16 August, there's also live Premier League commentary of Manchester United versus Newcastle United from 8pm. Eleanor Oldroyd completes the 5 Live sport line-up on Thursday evenings with live football and a range of sporting discussions from rugby to boxing, golf, athletics and the regular London 2012 magazine show, London Calling.
Mike Ingham and Alan Green lead the 5 Live commentary team, alongside John Murray, Ian Dennis, Conor McNamara, Darren Fletcher and Simon Brotherton. The team of expert pundits include Graham Taylor, Robbie Savage, Pat Nevin and Steve Claridge, as well as Mark Lawrenson, Lee Dixon, David Pleat, Martin Keown and Jimmy Armfield.
The 2010-11 football season kicks off on 5 Live on Saturday 7 August with coverage of the day's games in the Championship and Leagues One and Two. At 5.15pm, there's live Championship commentary of Leeds United versus Derby County.
Robbie Savage will then join listeners straight from Elland Road for the first 606 of the season. The following day there's live commentary of Cardiff City versus Sheffield United at 12.35pm in the Championship, followed by Chelsea versus Manchester United at 3pm in the Community Shield, live from Wembley.
