Fi Glover has decided to hand over the reins of Radio 4's Saturday Live this April, having been with the show since its inception in 2006 when it replaced Home Truths.

Saturday Live will be hosted by Fi for the last time on Saturday 2 April, after which regular deputy, The Reverend Richard Coles, will present the programme.

Fi says: "Saturday Live has been the most fabulous show to work on. The team is one of the most talented in radio and the audience is a joy to broadcast to – we have had a lot of fun over the last four and a half years and I shall miss them all.

"But I'm now looking forward to spending more time with my family at the weekend. And Saturday Live is a fine ship in full sail right now – I shall enjoy listening to Richard at the helm!"

She will continue to work on other projects for Radio 4, including presenting a new landmark series for the summer entitled Generations (working title). Over three years, this project follows people from two very different generations – the first Baby Boomers born in 1946, and the first children of the World Wide Web born in 1990.

Gwyneth Williams, Controller, Radio 4 says: "Fi has made Saturday Live her own and her regular presence on Saturday morning will be sorely missed. She brings a cool head, wit and intelligence to the airwaves.

"I can say, however, that she will still be a presence on Radio 4 and listeners can look forward to hearing her voice elsewhere on the network in the near future.

"Saturday Live of course has a life very much of its own and it will continue to enliven Saturday mornings with the excellent and experienced Richard Coles in the presenter's chair."

Saturday Live is a live magazine programme with a studio guest and a poet from a roster of poets in residence each week, a roving reporter and listeners' stories. It goes out on Saturday mornings at 9am on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 4 and attracts 2 million listeners each week (RAJAR Q4, 2010).

Saturday Live began on 16 September 2006, replacing Home Truths which was launched and presented by John Peel until his death in October 2004.

Generations (working title). The first Baby Boomers born in 1946 and the first children of the World Wide Web generation born in 1990, turn 65 and 21 respectively this year. As one leaves work, the other enters the workplace. For very different reasons, the two generations face unprecedented challenges. Fi Glover follows a selection of people from each generation, explores their lives – from their work and health, to family, leisure and relationships – and asks how each group will redefine their age. Fi started her ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ career as a trainee reporter in 1993 and worked widely in local radio before joining Radio 5 Live in 1997 where she stayed for seven years. In 2004 she joined Radio 4 to front Broadcasting House where she won a Silver Sony Award. In 2006 she started presenting Saturday Live which won Gold and Silver Sony Awards in 2008 for Speech Programme and Listener Participation respectively. Fi has also written a book, Travels With My Radio, in 2000.
