Last Friday ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 1's longest-serving breakfast DJ Chris Moyles and sidekick "Comedy" Dave Vitty set a brand new Guinness World Record for broadcasting the longest music show by a radio team and, in doing so, raised a whopping £2.6 million for Red Nose Day. The whole event, which was broadcast live in-vision on the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Red Button, attracted an audience of 2.84 million, making it the most popular live radio red button feature to date.
Over the 52 hours, the broadcast achieved an average of 144 minutes viewed. In 2010, only three events had a larger average and all were sporting events over several weeks. 144 minutes out of 52 hours is very strong considering the genre – Glastonbury had an average of 36 mins, though wasn't broadcast for as many hours.
Mark Friend, Controller of ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Multi-Platform and Interactive, says: "This was a great example of radio on the TV which worked brilliantly and which the audience loved. It added an extra dimension to an amazing piece of broadcasting."
