This year marks the 10th anniversary of ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Young Sports Personality of the Year, recognising the best in young sporting talent in the UK. 2011 nominations are open from Monday 10 October giving everyone the chance to put forward their suggestions for the award.
When this year's winner is announced at the live ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Sports Personality of the Year show on Thursday 22 December, they will be joining a strong list of sporting greats that have had their names etched on the trophy since its inception in 2001. The previous winners include tennis ace Andy Murray, Premier League stars Wayne Rooney and Theo Walcott, as well as World Champions Tom Daley and Eleanor Simmonds.
The award is made to the outstanding young sportsperson of the year, who is aged 16 or under on 1 January 2011, selected from nominations made to the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ and by sports governing bodies via the Youth Sport Trust.

A panel of judges will select a shortlist of 10 from the nominations received. Then they will meet again to select the final three who will be invited to attend the live ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Sports Personality of the Year 2011 show. The winner will be announced live on air at the prestigious event at MediaCityUK, Salford Quays.
Completed forms can be returned via email or post, and must be received by Monday 14 November, 2011.

The live ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Sports Personality of the Year show takes place this year at MediaCityUK, Salford Quays on Thursday 22 December. The show will be presented by Sue Barker, Gary Lineker and Jake Humphrey.

People are eligible to win the award if they are the right age AND they are British, OR if they meet all three of the following criteria:
They play a significant amount of their sport in the UK
Their core achievements that year were achieved in the UK, and not with a national team
They are residents in the UK
The closing date for nominations is Monday 14 November 2011.
Judging Panel - Chaired by ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Sport's John Inverdale.
John Inverdale chairs a panel which includes ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Sport presenters Jake Humphrey, Ore Oduba and Sonali Shah, two representatives from the Youth Sports Trust, former Young Sports Personality of the Year winner, Amy Spencer and three representatives from Sports Personality of the Year.
The panel will meet to choose the top 10 contenders on Monday 21 November 2011 from the list of nominations collected by the Youth Sport Trust and the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳.
The panel will reconvene in early December to select the top three and the winner from the top 10 list. The top three and the winner will be selected by secret ballot.
The top three will be invited to the live event and the other seven contenders will be notified out of courtesy that they have not made the final shortlist.
The winner will be announced live on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Sports Personality of the Year, on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ One on Thursday 22 December 2010. The show will also be live on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 5 Live and the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Sport website.
