How Alan Cumming is getting through lockdown with the help of his radio heroes

Despite not being a football fan, the Hollywood star just loves 成人论坛 Radio Scotland's Off the Ball.

Before lockdown began back in March, Alan Cumming took himself off to the Catskill Mountains in New York State. He’s been there in a secluded cabin ever since, and on Shelf Isolation he talks about the the films, books and audio he's been enjoying there during this unusual time.

In discussion with author Damien Barr, Alan reveals that he has been re-reading Janette Winterson’s novel The Passion, discovering Face to Face: Lauren Bacall on 成人论坛 iPlayer, and keeping up-to-date with events back home by listening to 成人论坛 Radio Scotland.

But the award-winning actor hasn't only been listening to programmes covering the Scottish arts scene, he's also been keeping up with news of the beautiful game via the long-running show, Off the Ball.

The Hollywood star reveals why the long-running football show is a favourite of his.

"My favourite thing of all is the football show on a Saturday afternoon, Off the Ball," says Alan, who admits he's not the programme's typical listener.

"I don’t know much about football; I don’t follow football. I just find that show so hilarious."

The Aberfeldy-born Hollywood and Broadway star also divulges that he was "overwhelmed and star-struck" to be invited on to the programme, presented by Stuart Cosgrove and Tam Cowan.

And while that hasn't yet taken place, it could be the cultural highlight we all need when life returns to normal.
