The Vaughan family live high on the hillside of the Gwaun Valley. Their land encompasses the rounded peaks of the Preseli Hills. This is a harsh existance. The strain of running the family farm has taken its toll on Dilwyn Vaughan's health. Now the farmer has taken on the traditional female role in caring for his grand-daughter and doing the catering for their tea shop and gardens. The land cannot keep his two sons on the farm as the younger son has become a National Park Ranger.
