Marc plays classic tracks and cutting-edge music, plus there's a live session from his old friend and ex-Pop Group member Gareth Sager.
Marc's old chum, ex-Pop Group member Gareth Sager is tonight's live session guest. We've also got archive John Peel Sessions from New Model Army and The Great Leap Forward.
Gareth Sager was born and bred in Edinburgh and first came to the public's attention with Bristol band The Pop Group in the 80s. The Pop Group exploded onto the scene and like any healthy bunch of teenagers, after three albums...imploded!
Gareth, with group drummer Bruce Smith, started a loose collective of improv-punk funkers called Rip Rig And Panic. They put out three LPs and after a tour of Japan with jazz legend Don Cherry (whose step daughter is Neneh was a singer in the band) they split up. Gareth went back to song-writing with Neneh Cherry on vocals, his next band was called Head and he also played with Nectarine No. 9.
His current incarnation is The Internal Organs and they include Ian Holford (drums), Dave (flash) Wright who was in Rip Rig and plays with Xray Specs (horn) and professor of psychology Dan Connelly (bass).
