Marc Riley's on his holidays, so Vic Galloway sits in for him with a session from Scottish band Findo Gask.
This week Marc Riley's on his holidays so Vic Galloway has kindly agreed to step into marc's size 9's. Tonight he's bringing Scottish band Findo Gask in for a live Session.
We've a Peel by Behest from The House of Love and three other John Peel Sessions chosen by YOU lot, they are Stiff Little Fingers, The Lemonheads and The Sultans of Ping.
Findo Gask are Gerard Black (singing, keyboards, guitar), Gregory Williams (bass, keyboards, guitar, singing), Gavin Thomson (keyboards, singing, bass, trumpet), and Michael Marshall (drums, guitar, keyboards, viola). Gregory and Gerard have been in bands together since they met at St Andrew's High School, in Kirkcaldy, Fife. Gregory and Michael went to Fife Youth Orchestra together (all the band have some classical training.)
In 2005, an early incarnation of the band released a split seven inch with Errors (currently recording for Mogwai's Rock Action label), produced by Gavin Thomson of local band Flying Matchstick Men. The band spent a year practicing in Gerard's bedroom above notorious local indie dive Nice n Sleazy's, but it wasn't until 2006 (when Flying Matchstick Men split up) that Gavin joined, bringing with him a wealth of electronic equipment, and everything was turned on its head.
The band have since released a couple of singles and played with Franz Ferdinand, LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and Dirty Projectors.
