Heather gives birth, but the father is nowhere to be seen. Phil stands up for Shirley, Jay tries to put a smile on Billy's face, and Minty voices his regrets about not being a dad.
Heather is in labour and panic ensues as Patrick, Peggy and Pat scramble to get her to the hospital. The only transport they can find is Shirley鈥檚 ice-cream van which Pat drives out of the square. They get Heather to the hospital but Pat and Peggy are too busy arguing about who would make the best birthing partner to notice that Patrick has already taken Heather in.
Peggy and Pat treat themselves to a free ice cream or two. After a few drinks of Shirley鈥檚 vodka they are merry and sentimental leaving Patrick to cope with Heather in the throws of labour. George Michael Trott is born with Patrick as the godfather. Shirley is emotional when she meets George but lies to Heather, telling her their rent is paid and the money is sorted.
Shirley sees her van leaving the square, assuming her drugs have gone with it. Shirley confides in Phil who is furious with Jack for helping her get involved with drugs. Shirley tells Phil she was hoping to get a stash of money sorted for Heather. Phil gets a call from Peggy and Pat; they鈥檙e in the van and telling Phil they love him. What have they been taking?
Jay tries to match-make Billy and Jean. The couple meet in the Vic for lunch. Conversation proves awkward and Jean leaves but not before they discover that Jay had them set up.
Libby is feeling shocked and confused about Darren鈥檚 proposal. After Darren later professes his love she accepts. They announce their engagement but Adam tells Libby she is making a mistake and throwing her life away.
