It's Christmas in Shieldinch and the year ends with the theme of homecomings, as Scarlett, Lydia and Gina receive unexpected visitors.

It was a momentous Christmas for Lydia: having found the son she had adopted when she was younger, Lenny was bringing the boy to meet his mother at long last. Lydia was racked with nerves and began to doubt her son, Lee, was coming. Her worries evaporated when Lenny turned up at the house with Lee. Lydia was delighted to meet her son. She gave him all the presents she had stashed away for him over the years.

Everything was going well until Lee overheard Ewan talking about him and began to feel he'd made a mistake by coming to meet his mother. Lee stormed off to the pub where Lydia found him and brought him back. Lydia was so delighted that Lenny had brought Lee home that she decided to put their troubles behind her and asked her husband to stay. Finally Lenny had got back into Lydia's good books.

Late at night Lenny confronted Lee about his storming off. Lee didn't understand what Lenny was so upset about - he was only acting. Lee isn't really Lydia's son: her real son is dead and Lenny is paying Lee to pretend to be him so he can get back with her.

Elsewhere, Jimmy was in the bad books after he hid Madonna's presents in the oven and they got roasted. Leaving Scarlett at home to cool off, Jimmy, Bob, Deek and Nicki ran into a Santa Claus who was on the run from the police and looking for Scarlett.

Jimmy took the Santa to meet Scarlett. When she spied the Santa she was clearly disturbed to see him, and she insisted he had the wrong house. Eventually Scarlett agreed to take the Santa in rather than see him arrested. Scarlett came clean and explained to Jimmy that the Santa was actually her brother, Big Bob. Jimmy was a little upset that Scarlett had kept her brother a secret. As far as Jimmy was aware Scarlett had no family. Scarlett told Jimmy that she had kept Bob a secret because he lives with a woman called Molly who Scarlett wants nothing to do with.

Big Bob assured Scarlett that he had left Molly forever. Bob went on to save the day by giving Madonna the presents from his sack. Scarlett melted and agreed he could stay.

Christmas started off pretty badly for the Rossi Henderson family who were facing their first one without little Franco. Gina was upset when Joanne didn't show up. Joanne was at the Murdoch's wanting desperately to be with her family but she was afraid having not spoken to them for so long.

Joanne left a present, given to her by Ewan, for Franco on the doorstep. Gina was still angry with her but Eileen made Gina see that she should make it up with Jo. Gina found Jo alone and emotional at the fountain: her grief over Franco had finally broken through. Jo and Gina had a tearful reunion.
