Mike Harding presents an hour of the very best in folk, roots and acoustic music, including an interview with English singer and musician Pete Coe about his new album Backbone.
Pete Coe is something of a renaissance man in folk terms. A multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, dancer, dance caller, broadcaster and club organiser, he has been a professional musician since the early 1970s, initially in a duo with his former partner Chris Coe, but also as a member of the groups the New Victory Band, Bandoggs and Red Shift.
As a solo artist he is highly regarded for his musicianship, natural stage presence and his deep understanding of the tradition. His original songs have often been confused for traditional material down the years.
Pete Coe talks to Mike about his latest album Backbone and sums up his long-running career as a musician never far from the heart of Britain's folk and acoustic scene.
