Maxine Peake and Dave Stewart help bring down the curtain on this series... see you in September
Graham was joined by former dinnerlady Maxine Peake and one-time Eurythmic Dave Stewart, and the worst I Can't Believe It's Not Better song so far... by a country mile!
In the last show of this, Graham revealed a fascination for the abnormal loads that frequent Bobbie's travel updates. He also remembered an amazing night in May when the Azerbaijan entry won at this year's Eurovision. Apparently, he told us, if it had been down to just the viewer's votes, Blue would have come 5th and not 11th.
Actress Maxine Peake popped in to discuss her new play 'Loyalty', and told Graham how she got her big break playing Twinkle in 'dinnerladies', and that she wouldn't be returning to 'Shameless'. And Graham's last guest for now was former Tourist and Eurythmic, Dave Stewart, who spoke about the new stage musical version of 'Ghost', and how he wrote his recent album 'The Blackbird Diaries' in double quick time in Nashville. Graham also spoke to Ryan Tubridy, who will be here on Radio 2 in Graham's slot for eight weeks.
In 'Grill Graham', Karen in Bromley was looking for advice on how to persuade her husband that a move to Ramsgate would be a good idea. And ANON of Cornwall was having problems with a trainer at work. The advice given was stellar as per usual, including the infamous lines "...you have to suck it up" and "...step up to the plate". Please keep your 'Grill Graham' problems coming in over the summer.
'I Can't Believe It's Not Better' reached a new low this week with 'The Birdie Song' by The Tweets, and bank worker Lynette Thomason of Southport talked us through the rather dark tale of Richard Marx's 1992 hit, 'Hazard'. Did he do it? According to the music video, he didn't. But the jury is still out.
Graham returns on September 17th.
