Owners of the Costa Concordia say the ship's captain "committed errors", Australian Open tennis begins in Melbourne, find out who won at the Golden Globes and we talk "Fever Pitch".

Dotun Adebayo with stories from around the world.

The owners of the cruise ship which ran aground and capsized off the Italian coast say the captain "committed errors". We get the latest on the investigation with our correspondent Matthew Price, and then speak to Larry Wade, a former merchant marine captain and a man who's trained hundreds of ships' captains over many years. He says if he'd been at the wheel, the Costa Concordia wouldn't have been as close to the shoreline.

John Huntsman is pulling out of the race to become the Republican party's presidential candidate. Michael Shear, who broke the story for the New York Times, tells us he seemed out of step the whole time, predicts that Mr Huntsman will now endorse Mitt Romney and that the move will clear the race up a bit.

Melbourne is the venue for the Australian Open tennis tournament, with six British players in action in the opening round. But that soon becomes four as two are knocked out very quickly. Jonathan Overend and Russel Fuller give us all the latest as the heat rises in the Rod Laver arena.

It's the 69th annual Golden Globes awards in Los Angeles - with Ricky Gervais being invited back again to host the event. Peter Bowes is in Los Angeles and tells us about successes for Idris Elba, Kate Winslet and Madonna, and Jason Kay is at an LA hotel schmoozing with the stars.

And for the Up All Night Book Club, we discuss Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby. Alex Clark gives a passionate defence of why it should stay on the Up All Night bookshelf, and we get listeners' memories of it too.
