Sacha Williams-Rowe

An exclusive interview with a mother of four who was sent to prison because she was too scared to give evidence a second time against the ex-boyfriend who nearly killed her.

31 year old Sacha Williams-Rowe was stabbed in the stomach by Lloyd Lothian, the father of three of her children. The kitchen knife he used to attack her missed her heart by three millimetres and she spent two days in a coma. She gave evidence against him in the original trial - but that was abandoned when the judge became ill. A retrial was ordered but by then Ms Williams-Rowe was too traumatised to give evidence again. When she twice failed to appear, she was sentenced to a week in prison for contempt of court. The judge told her she had wasted eight thousand pounds of public money. 35 year old Lloyd Lothian eventually pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of unlawful wounding. Earlier this month he was sentenced to fifteen months in jail - but because of time served and a reduction for his guilty plea, he will be free in six weeks.
