Ministers announce thousands of vocational courses are no longer going to be considered as equivalent to GCSEs. Victoria asks what a vocational qualification has done for you?

What have vocational qualifications done for you? The Government is dramatically reducing the number of vocational subjects that can be included in school league tables in England. They will also no longer be considered as equivalent to GCSEs. There had been criticism that some schools are using non-academic subjects - like hairdressing - to boost their league table position.

Also Network Rail has told magistrates that it will plead guilty to three charges of health and safety breaches at a level crossing in Essex. Olivia Bazlinton, who was 14, and Charlotte Thompson who was 13, were hit by a train and died at the Elsenham crossing in 2005. Victoria speaks to the fathers of both girls.
