24 hours after hearing the news that six British servicemen had died in an explosion in Afghanistan, should we hold our nerve in Afghanistan? Or pull out?
It's exactly 24 hours since we learned the news that those six British servicemen had died in an explosion in Afghanistan; the biggest single loss of life for six years. The number of British soldiers killed in the conflict has now passed four hundred.
The front pages of the newspapers this morning are varied. The Mirror has an open letter to the Prime Minister from a woman who lost her son there in 2008. 'Now', she says, 'as I send my youngest son to war, I beg you to end this bloodshed'.
On the front of the Times, there's a very different message from the head of our armed forces: he says we should build on the 'truly impressive' work done so far - and hold our nerve ...
Should we hold our nerve in Afghanistan? Or pull out?
