The latest on flooding across much of northern Britain, Syria shoots down a Turkish fighter jet and Tim Vickery and Andy Brassell are on hand for the World Football Phone in.

Forecasters say as much as a month's rain could fall in the next 24 hours in parts of England and Wales, and the Environment Agency says there's already 86 flood warnings in place in the northeast and northwest of England. The worst affected areas so far seem to be Hebdenbridge Todmorden and Mytholmroyd. Here the latest on Up All NIght.

Syria says it has shot down a Turkish fighter jet that entered its air space. Turkey has promised to " take necessary steps" once all the facts are established. Turkish officials lost contact with the military aircraft as it flew over the sea off the Turkish province of Hatay, which borders Syria.

Former top US college football coach Jerry Sandusky has been found guilty of 45 out of the 48 counts of child abuse that he was accused of. The case has rocked Pennsylvania State University and college sports in America more widely.
