The latest on Syria as UN envoy Kofi Annan held talks with the Russian President Vladimir Putin. Hear from Dr Walid Phares, an advisor to the US Congress on the Middle East and the author of The Coming Revolution: Struggle for Freedom in the Middle East.

A secular liberal alliance has won the most seats in Libya's first election in decades. This bucks the trend of other "arab spring" countries that have swept Islamist politicians to power. The vote in Libya follows the fall of Colonel Gadaffi's regime last year. Professor Dirk Vanderwalle an Associate Professor of Government at Dartmouth College and the author of "A history of modern Libya." He is in Tripoli at the moment as Senior Political Advisor for the Carter Center's electoral observation mission, and is writing their evaluation report on the election.
