The Who at the Isle of Wight

Johnnie celebrates The Who's incendiary live set at the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, and Alex Lifeson of Rush remembers the decade in My '70s.

Johnnie Walker celebrates the decade of Wilson, Heath, Callaghan and Thatcher.

This week he'll be spinning tracks from The Who's live set at the 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival, recorded forty-three years ago this week. Performing almost all of their rock opera Tommy, the set saw the band performing to over half a million people at the last iteration of the festival until its 2002 revival.

Also on the show, Canadian musician Alex Lifeson will pick some of his favourite music from the decade in My 70s. Best known as co-founder and guitarist of the progressive rock band Rush, he was been voted one of the greatest guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine and is noted for his self-taught style.

The genesis of Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells will be revisited courtesy of the 成人论坛 archive, and another classic single will be loaded into Johnnie's Jukebox.
