Scotland's largest mass participation sports event starts in the heart of Glasgow at George Square, where around 25,000 runners pass through the city in both half marathon and 10k races before reaching the finish at Glasgow Green.

Focus will be on the half marathon race headlined by marathon world record holder Dennis Kimetto of Kenya. Amongst others, Kimetto will face opposition from Scotland's Callum and Derek Hawkins. The brothers will be racing each other competitively for the first time over a half marathon distance.

In the women's race, all eyes will be on three women. Kenya's Edna Kiplagat set a course record in the Great Scottish Run half marathon in 2014. Lining up alongside her will be Britons Jo Pavey and Gemma Steel. Pavey won gold in the 10,000m at the European Championships in 2014, while Gemma Steel arrives fresh from finishing second place at the Great North Run earlier in 2015.

The half marathon is as much about the masses as the elite runners and a record number will take to the start line, with many raising money for causes close to them. We hear some of those stories during the programme as well as bringing live updates from out on the course with David Currie based at the start and then finish and Rhona McLeod reporting from Pollok Park.

Commentary comes from Rob Walker, Brendan Foster, and former world half marathon champion Liz McColgan.
